Telemedicine
Prospera Health Centre offers teleconsultation services through the use of telemedicine kiosk Gloheal, powered by Tata Communication. This service is designed to address the challenges faced by government and private health providers in serving people in rural areas due to vast geography, longer transit times, fewer physicians and health professionals, lower health awareness rates, and high service costs. In rural areas, it costs 3-4 times more per capita to deliver healthcare services than in urban areas, despite 75% of the population residing in these regions. With only 5-8% of physicians practicing in rural areas, teleconsultation is a vital tool that enables convenient, flexible, and more affordable healthcare options to millions of people, especially those who lack accessibility to quality healthcare or need to stay at home due to health concerns or disabilities.
The advent of the internet has made it easier to communicate with friends and family, and online courses have helped promote workforce development skills. Similarly, telemedicine provides a bridge of connection between doctors and patients, which is particularly important in rural areas. During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, the Government of India, along with AIIMS and other medical colleges, started eSanjeevani, a telemedicine consultation service. The Government also opened dedicated Telehealth centers to facilitate virtual consultations between doctors and patients, as well as other medical services. Prospera Health Centre recognizes the importance of teleconsultation and is committed to providing this service to its patients through Gloheal, the telemedicine kiosk powered by Tata Communication.
